SPRINT™ : MTM Toolkit
SPRINT scanning system for diameter measurement on multi-task machines
ชม วีดิโอคลิปสาธิตทำงาน
The SPRINT MTM Toolkit offers exceptionally repeatable diameter measurement to producers of Y-axis multi-task machine tools for use in the manufacture of highly accurate diameters.
Integration of this toolkit delivers a number of game-changing capability enhancements most notably a highly repeatable diameter measurement cycle. With the required artefact, this unique cycle (patents applied for) is not affected by thermal changes to the machine structure or the on-centre error of the component. It provides users with the potential for extremely accurate automatic cut-measure-cut operations with tolerances of a few microns.
The Toolkit returns results for diameter, part run-out, machine centre-line and circularity, with measurements typically repeatable to within 1 to 2 µm.
The SPRINT MTM Toolkit comprises a series of software cycles, which are executed using the Productivity+™ CNC plug-in software, and engineering support provided by Renishaw to the machine tool builder allowing integration of the cycles and artefacts into machine designs.
The supplied cycles, which are programmable through the CNC macro, control the OSP60 SPRINT probe during the required diameter measurements on a reference artefact and the workpiece. These automatically compensate workpiece measurements by using the reference artefact measurements, thus minimising thermal effects on the CNC machine tool. The measurement results are stored to macro variables on the CNC machine tool control.
These cycles use the outstanding 3D scanning capability of the SPRINT system to collect measurement data from every part of the component surface, whilst rotating the part and interpolating the machine axes simultaneously, thereby reducing measurement variation from component form and machine positioning.

Game-changing applications
The SPRINT system incorporates ground-breaking technology which allows organisations to completely re-think the use of on-machine process control measurement in high value CNC manufacturing tasks.
Working in conjunction with manufacturing organisations in key industries, Renishaw continues to develop specific application capability to improve manufacturing processes.
Based on this experience, the SPRINT system is offered in conjunction with a variety of software toolkit packages for data processing, each focussed on an individual task or industry sector.
The capabilities of each package vary by application but typically include:
-
Editing and programming tools for process planners and CAM users, provided as an extension to Productivity+
-
On-machine data analysis tools which run automatically in-cycle, and provide measurement feedback to a CNC machining process
-
Documentation to allow programmers and users to understand the cycles and use them to their best effect
In some cases Renishaw may be able to provide programming and support capability for these applications.
